Week 28: Critical Practice

AR Build

This week I made the models and animations needed for the AR, first doing the 3D modelling of the layer landscape map, when making this in blender I was aware of how this digital 3D layered map may translate into 3D paper cut outs as the maximum size we are using for the 3D paper cut out is A4. So, the detail of the could not be too small or too many layers in the digital 3D layered map as it will be too hard cut out and mostly won’t help in the image tracking if it’s too clustered.

I also did the animation of the space rover, in which I came across a mesh problem with the rover model that I didn’t realise be but after that I was able to finish the rover crash animation. What I want to do if have any time is to add explosion particles and sound to better visuals where the crash is.

I started doing the UIs for the introduction of the story, but mores specifically the mission report of what IO is and what the characters mission on IO. While doing the UI and text, I liked the idea of having an IO globe in which the user is able to rotate while learning about the planet, but this addition would be great if it works but if not, I will have to leave out as there is little time to experiment with the AR.
