FMP: July 1/1
FMP Format
For the final major project module I’m going to use this blog with a different approach, instead of a weekly log, it will be every 2 to 3 weeks of each month instead as it will allow me to reflect and see the changes from previous logs. Also, helps me to really think and reflect about my choices as well as add in relevant research and progress.
Along with this blog I will be using other platforms to organise my work space. below are links to my Miro board and Trello they both have specific uses, with Miro being used for mainly the project being used for quick notes, ideas, timetabling and brainstorming. Whereas, Trello is for the thesis to help me with structuring and organising.

Project
Since the introduction of the final major project, I have been thing about installation art with virtual reality. As my art practice focuses on slowing down and taking time to feel at peace in a space, I’m also interested in how space can effect your mood. So with that idea I thought it of the juxapotion of the digital space with the physical, to subvert the notion of over stimulation of outside noise even digital noise by creating a space where it fosters peace and stability. This is why I think it’s important for my experience needs to be in VR to create an extra layer of immerse but also to create a journey from real world to a immersive realm.
Of course over the few months my ideas may shift as I do more research, but for now below is a mood board that encapsulate my ideas.

I want really establish the what type of space that the VR is portraying, which a meditative space in where the user gets to shut away outside worldly directions and explore a peaceful other worldly space that is unlike real world while referencing other artists are that also follow theme of peace with a new space.

‘Nature doesn’t just mean greenery, it can mean water, it can mean the sea, and they’re things that we think we can bring in through digital experiences that might allow people to engage in a different way, bringing this slowness, bringing this connectedness..’ – Jenn Ellis and Benni Allan, co-founders of AORA
This quote and video both from Fameweb discusses how vitual it is to build spaces that is restorative within the digital, it goes in depth of what that that could look like in different sectors of all kind of industry by creating access for anyone. I was very impressed by a few teams and artists from the video of how they use technology spending from webVR to installation art, just to name a few AORA webVR, Krista Kim light installations and Alexis Christodoulou & his studio colorcstudio that make digital landscapes.

Thesis
With the thesis I do not have a solid thesis question, however I do want it focus on VR and installation art and using those academic learning into my final project. Below are examples of questions, trying to rewrite them to make it cohesive as well as allows me to explore the question in a full range.
1) Can using virtual reality enable ways of seeing in installation art?
2) Intersection of virtual reality and installation art: Does Virtual reality help foster more ways of seeing installation art?
3) how can the affordances in VR be supported in making of an art installation?
4) how can the affordances of 360 image and audio support in a VR art installation?
5) Using affordances of 360 image and audio in VR as an exploration of art installation
6) Exploring how 360 image and audio in VR art installation can modify ways of seeing art from its origin
7) Exploring the use of VR properties of 360 image and audio to create an VR art installation
8) Exploring the affordances of 360 image and audio to create an VR art installation
Can the affordances of 360 image and audio aid to create an VR art installation?
9) How can VR affordances of 360 image and audio aid immersion in art installation?
But for now I will be doing reading over the couple of months, and collecting notes that may be useful in to future.
