Week 27: Critical Practice

AR Build

After lots of discussion from a various people and within the team we agreed that the AR will be a simple experience that helps introduce the player to the story. I liked the idea of that the player uses the AR from their own point of view as it makes the transition from AR to VR a lot more seamless especially as when you first into the VR scene it’s the after mouth of the crash so giving a warning with AR gives context and preparation to the player.

A team member suggested that we can use globe as trigger and interactive element for the AR, where you use your phone move around the globe that in person and in the AR there would be an animation of the space rover crash scene on top of the globe. In addition to that you would be able to size in and out the globe on the AR app, but after quickly finding that first idea was not going to work with the time we have and how complex the idea was.

Our next and final idea was modification and simplification of our first that is using trigger image to show the crash animation, using the 3D layered paper cut out as a trigger image in which the rover crash animation spawns with the 3D layered paper cut out landscapes.
