Week 5 : CVR
Research: AR
For my augmented reality part of the module I want to make a continuation of my VR with gardens but with a different approach with it. Inspired by my move to London where I quickly found out how limited with large parks and far it is to travel to find a park.
My idea was to use AR as a platform to create a mini garden, where the user can be immersed with their own garden in their own space.
Artists like Alexis Christodoulou & Linda Tegg use nature as outlet but the production is different, with Christodoulou creating within the digital and Tegg is installation based which gives me a better understand of audience movement throughout a room and how I can translate that within AR. Also, with Christodoulou work there is movement within the images that make you believe it’s real, for me to translate that sense of movement in my AR I will add in animation to the plants and other garden to bring it to life.

There are examples of AR that follow similar themes of nature/garden, like the PoliNations project in Birmingham focusing on bring nature within the city-centre with workshops, events and so on. PoliNation have an AR app where people take a quiz that generates AR flower. ReWildAR by Tamiko Thiel and collaborator /p is another AR example being used in a different setting ReWildAR is a commissioned work that is shown within a build further emphasising the versatilely the AR should be in the space.
