Mid-crit review / Reflection

After the feedback from the Mid-crit and reflecting, took on boards the the comments and made changes. One of the big feedback was the reason why Mimi was on the island in the first place which was a very valid question as I never established why she was on this Island, to mend that I deiced that Mimi would be a researcher as I though it would make a compelling story and I want her to be a corrupt researcher. Having Mimi be a corrupt researcher gives light to her attitude and character, as her motives are selfish and for personal gain, then giving her the idea that she take and do what ever she pleases to the island.

Another change was the player involvement in the story, as stated before I didn’t like the that the player was just observing the story in the first story draft. However, in the second one there is more involvement for the player but I want to add in interactions where the story can only continue with the player interactions are complete.

The other thing that was mentioned was the ending of the story, of Mimi wanting to say on the island even after the being attacked by the animals. I originally wanted Mimi to have a change of character where she puts the effort to immerse herself into the culture of the island and because of that she changes and wants to stay on the island rather got back to earth. However, I do see how that can be a very quick turn around for Mimi to have a character arch as she hasn’t shown any sign of interest for the island, so changing the ending from wanting to stay on the island to being trapped & killed my the island seemed better as wanted the island almost like a character to fight for not being exploited for it’s resources.
